Poppies room

In our Poppies (Pre – school) Room, children aged from 3 – 5 years with a minimum ratio of 1 : 8, we offer a warm, cosy and fun environment where our staff is carefully selected and qualified with relevant Early Years Care and Education qualifications and experienced to ensure that your child is in safe, caring and knowledgeable hands.

We implement the EYFS set by the Department for Education that sets standards to ensure all children learn and develop well through play, the educational programme is well planned and resourced to have depth and breadth across the seven areas of learning.

They provide interesting and challenging experiences and environment that meet the needs of all children; this in turn results in increased self esteem and confidence, which support and encourage the children to become independent in all aspects of their learning and development. This ensures a consistent and smooth transition between us and your child’s future (or existing) school. We employ a degree qualified teacher as well as nursery officers to ensure the best possible combination of care and education for your child.

We recognize that your child is unique and will develop in their own individual way, and with this child-centred approach, we encourage independence and give each child a chance to develop to their fullest potential. To achieve that, our care team creates a challenging environment, and provides a variety of activities and experiences designed to fully support your child’s learning and growth, and extend their current knowledge and skills. We ensure that all children get the support and necessary resources to provide a stimulating learning and educative environment, for the children to learn new skills, thrive and gain knowledge of the world around them. Basic IT skills are acquired through the use of our class computer whilst individual creative interests are fostered through music, dance and drama, free painting and drawing… and lots more.

Planning is based on a secure knowledge and understanding of how to promote the learning and development of young children and what they can achieve. We monitor your child’s development by observing how he or she plays and interacts with the other children and our care team. We provide regular feedback on your child’s progress and encourage you to talk to us if you have any queries or concerns whatsoever. We build strong home links in order to enhance and extend children’s learning both within the nursery environment and in the child’s home.

We believe that children leaving our Poppies room are confident, happy young people who have formed strong bonds within their peer group, made good friends and had learned a lot through play and having lots of fun! Leaving Poppies room we are confident that our children are ready to take the next step and start School with confidence!
